Spotlight: Kokomo Toys and Collectibles
So, I decided to take a two-hour trip into Indiana to the city of Kokomo to visit the Kokomo Toy & Collectibles shop. I've been there twice before, but only ever bought a Funko there (and sold a bunch of Funko's the second time I was there. Located in the downtown area in the aptly named Geek Street (There is a Comic Book store, Book Store, & Record Store all located next to one another), it is Nerdvana for Toy collectors and casual collectors alike. They deal in vintage, new, and you'll also find a lot of things that you might not see in your average retail store. My primary reason for going was to see if they might have the Sabine Wren Black Series from Ahsoka, because i've seen reveals for it on Youtube, but when I check online stores, they either (A) don't show it available (B) available for preorder that might ship in January or (C) Have it, but combine the cost of the figure + Shipping, you might as well wait until you find enough things to combine to get free shipping. Anyways, I was happy to see that it was hanging on the pegs. Getting away from the reasons I personally went, while the store might not seem overly big, it is packed to the ceiling with goodies everywhere you look. Mint or Complete in Box vintage, loose figures of so many different toy lines. And honestly, I didn't think their prices were too over the top. Expect to pay top dollar for vintage stuff, but much of the newer stuff were either a little higher than retail or right at retail. Star Wars, GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, DC, Marvel, Horror, and many many off beat figures that celebrate Musicians, Cryptids, or the like.
Most of the pictures included are Star Wars, but that is a small sample of what they have in inventory, I just happen to like SW and have friends who are collectors of Star Wars. But yeah, if you look at these pictures, and they have just as much of other properties as they do the Star Wars, both new and Vintage.
And if Funko's are your thing, then you are in luck, because they have a metric ass ton of Funko Pop's, whether it is loose, commons, or rare, you'll probably be able to find it here.

I'll end this post by saying that I ended up looking around the shop for nearly an hour and obviously you know I bought the Sabine, but I also bought a Nega-Ramona from Scott Pilgrim at what I felt was an awesome price. These last two pics are my purchases, and I kept the price tags on just to give an idea of what you might spend if you are looking for something similar.
These are the reasons I am glad there are independent toy stores out there. I miss the days of Toy R Us and Kaybee Toys, where you had a huge selection to look and choose from. I just feel like anymore when you walk into a Walmart or Target, you are limited not only to what figures you might find from any property, but also, you're likely to see the same unwanted items hang on the pegs collecting dust while nothing new comes in. I'm hoping to maybe try to do a monthly thing where I check out Toy Stores from around the Ohio-Indiana-Michigan area. Obviously, I'm probably not going to drive more than 3 hours to check out a toy store, but if it is in the 2-2 1/2 hour drive range, then odds are I might think about checking it out.
Until then, Keep Collecting what you like.
