Customizing: Buying an anime style figure off Temu and making it uniquely my own

It's been a hot minute (or month) since I posted, and I apologize. Sometimes it is hard for me to keep focus and keep up with things, especially when I can't even keep up with my main blog. But I digress. So customizing in the action figure world isn't new. But it is still fairly new to me, because I've never been one to take any steps to customize figures that I've purchased in the past. Now saying that, I'm sure there will be those who might feel that how I customized the figure that I'm writing about is barely on the fringe of customization. But to each their own. This was taking a kind of throw away figure that I just threw in to a purchase and making it into something that I want to not only keep but display proudly.

I generally only purchase things that I have at least a general knowledge of, but while browsing Temu off and on, some of the anime style figures/statues have caught my interest. So when I need something that was only a couple of bucks to round out my order, I finally decided why not.

I have a fascination with Fallen Angels. And the only reason I kept passing up this figure was because I didn't care for the horns. But I figured that I have a dremel, so I can take care of those and can just have the figure I pictured in my mind when initially seeing it. When it arrived, I was kind of surprised by how large it was. I knew two things immediately. (1) the horns had to go and (2) I was going to add some secondary color to her hair. Because just because she is Fallen doesn't mean see doesn't have to be without some style. Didn't even need to use my dremel tool in the end as the horns fairly easily came off when just yanking on them with my fingers. That isn't a dig at quality, it is just that the horns were adhered with glue, so they were fairly easy to remove. So, at that point, it was just about adding color to her hair and I decided that purple would suit her well. I did the two tone effect by leaving her hair black in the back and just the front portion of her hair would be purple and I felt that it did match the vision in my head once again....

So, a month or so goes by and I get my 3d printed X-23 from my friend to put together and paint,             and after I got it done, I look up to the fallen angel and think....I want to add some depth to her                 wings. I've watched enough Youtube videos to get a good understanding on how to do a wash                 that I think will bring out the definition of the feathers. After doing a couple of washes, that is                 when I have a revelation. I look at her demonic eyes and think...what if she is in a fight                            between becoming a demon and remaining an angel. I start by painting one of her eyes in the                 same purple color as her hair (because she was an Angel, and she can't just have normal color                 eyes.) I notice while doing that, the paint on her lips isn't the greatest, so I add purple to her lips               to add to her nuisance to that color. That is when I have another idea. She's fighting between                   good and evil. What if I take it a step further and show how she is fighting the transition of                     the feathers from white to black. So now on her left side, her wing is partially white as it                         slowly transitions to black. Left side (Purple eye, White in wings) Right side (Demon eye,                       Black wing). I really really like the look now and I especially really want her to be on display                 in my room.
